Three years ago today, our lives turned upside down
We couldn’t have predicted, the effects would be profound
A virus came from China, and spread through our community
We couldn’t understand how, it would break through our immunity
Our sense of independence, almost vanished overnight
Things we took for granted, would no longer be our right
Mandatory regulations, a lockdown put in place
No socialising allowed, and masks across your face
Companies were put at risk, some staff were told to go
The lucky ones among us, were moved onto Furlough
Meeting friends and family, was restricted to a bubble
Little contact with our loved ones, or a risk of legal trouble
The peak of the pandemic, changed all our lives for sure
The sickness and uncertainty, and some encountered more
Mental health took a nose-dive, and reached an all-time low
Many facing isolation, not a feeling some would know
As the months passed by, things started to improve
Restrictions slowly lifted, allowing us to move
A phased return to work, social distancing was set
Some chose to stay remote, under the UK safety net
We remained in Covid’s shadow, but we had to move ahead
By altering our practices, using technology instead
Moving learning to remote, opened SAMS’ client range
And making use of zoom, was a necessary change
Consultancy appointments, worked just as well that way
While constraints were at their highest, it brought work in day by day
The classroom and the office, may becoming obsolete
But more proactive thinking, we won’t admit defeat
We’ve all had to endure, a challenging three years
Trying to move forward, despite our pending fears
But now we’re moving on, from uncertainty and sadness
To rebuild all our lives, and move on from the madness
A time we’ll all remember, which took us by surprise
Just shows if we’re determined, like a phoenix we will rise!
