How does my SMSTS and SSSTS course work over zoom?

Since lockdown SAMS have been running a large number of training courses remotely over ZOOM, 5 years later it’s shown to be such a popular and effective way of learning that it is now our most popular way of delivering our courses.

Our experienced tutors took to this way of working and we quickly adapted our skills to what we did in the classroom. However, there is still some anxiety around taking the courses over a remote platform and we hope to alleviate this by explaining exactly how it works.

The booking process

Courses can be booked on our online booking platform and this will ensure your place on the courses – this is a straight forward process with payment available by a number of gateways.

We have a few courses on our CITB suite including the health and safety awareness for the green CSCS card, SSSTS and SMSTS, among other courses.

A confirmation email will be sent to the booking personnel & the learner after making your booking. This is not an automated email system so please allow extra time for this be sent if you are making a booking over the weekend/bank holidays period.

The working day before the course, the SAMS team will send out all resources and a zoom link so you can log onto the course.

Taking the courses

Please ensure you test your system beforehand, to ensure no issues getting onto the course for start time of 9am. You will need a laptop or computer, with a webcam & microphone and Zoom downloaded onto it. If you do not have a laptop or computer, you will need a second device with Zoom for the exam.

Assessment processes

SAMS use a online examination software ‘Classmarker’ which gives instant results and is user friendly. Once the test has been completed the tutor will give feedback and dependent on results, will then pass the learner. Other assessments are taken throughout the course including tool box talks and core exercises along with the SSSTS and SMSTS criteria. A pass email is sent to the learner the working day after the course, to provide evidence of your learning whilst you await your certification. Certificates will then be sent to the learner within 10-15 working days.
